The Department of Pathological Analysis Techniques was established in the year (2017-2018) to accept middle school graduates from the biological and scientific branches for morning study only according to the approval of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research on 9/26/2017 in the Ministry’s letter No. 6918 dated 10/4/2017. It was decided to introduce evening studies, and approval was obtained for the introduction at the Higher Education Council meeting at its sixth session on (8/14/2017). The scientific name of the department was changed from the Department of Pathological Analysis Techniques to the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques for the academic year (2018-2019) and from the first stage onwards according to the book of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Planning/Department of Studies, Planning and Follow-up/Studies and Planning No. 3/3/4183 on 5/28/2018. The department contains laboratories equipped with modern equipment in the specializations of microbiology, parasitology, general and clinical chemistry, immunology, serology, human anatomy, histology, physiology, and general and molecular biology. Graduates can perform all approved professional analyzes in hospitals and public laboratories.
The department has a clear future mission with high ambition that seeks to provide the best services and develop the teaching and student staff in the fields of scientific and knowledge research, as well as community services, and expand the horizons of scientific cooperation with corresponding departments and relevant institutions in order to achieve continuous, high-quality giving and interaction. The department and college seek to provide distinguished education and produce creative research that serves society and contributes to building the knowledge economy by creating a stimulating environment for learning, intellectual creativity, optimal use of technology, and effective local and global partnership. With the outbreak of the Corona epidemic in Iraq and the world, and when unprecedented challenges emerged for the education sector, it was self-evident that the individual should guarantee his right to education, especially basic education, all the way to university education, and in light of the recommendations of the World Health Organization, the Crisis Cell in Iraq, and the Supreme Committee for National Health and Safety, a decision was made in Al-Hadi University College and the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology are creating more innovative and distinguished electronic teaching methods, so that the student and professor can access the content at the same time, interact with it, and connect other devices for the purpose of drawing, writing, and sharing files.
The Department of Medical Laboratories represents an effective means of meeting the community’s need for specialized cadres to support various health, research and educational institutions, in addition to investing the energies of teaching staff and students in solid academic work and in primary and higher theoretical and applied scientific research and studies, as well as training, awareness and health and scientific mobilization within the foundations of A future that is in line with modern developments by acquiring high technical and professional expertise and harnessing them scientifically and academically according to an advanced methodological perspective that is in line with the general policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
1. Developing the research, scientific and technical capabilities of teachers and graduates, keeping pace with modern developments, and urging the use of advanced methods in areas of specialization. 2. Working to establish strong joint scientific and research relations with the corresponding departments in the college and other universities by participating in seminars, courses and training workshops and investing in them to develop capabilities as well as mutual benefit in service of the public interest. 3. Providing scientific, technical and research consultations to contribute to solving some scientific and specialized problems that some relevant institutions need. 4. The department aspires to achieve the desired future goals by culminating its scientific career through postgraduate studies in the department.
The Department of Medical Laboratories is one of the departments concerned with the field of disease diagnosis, community health, and scientific research that leads to these two goals. It has taken a distinguished position among the departments of the college and even the university as well because of the utmost importance it contains in supporting the process of science and knowledge on the one hand and the benefit that accrues to society. Through the service performed by its graduates, the department has a vision, performance, and future plans. Among these future plans and visions is striving to open postgraduate studies in the higher diploma or master’s degree, and opening channels of cooperation, participation, and training with other research and medical institutions, as well as establishing and opening specialized laboratories in the department for the purposes of... Training, scientific research, and conducting modern examinations. The department also seeks to keep pace with all modern scientific developments and achievements. This high-level department will continue to graduate courses and prepare experienced and trained cadres to provide the finest and best services to other institutions as well as to serve society and our beloved Iraq.
